From 1 September 2024, all Queensland businesses must take proactive steps to prevent sexual and gender-based harassment in the workplace. By 1 March 2025, employers must have a formal Prevention Plan in place.

Key Compliance Steps

Businesses are required to:

  • Identify workplace harassment risks.
  • Implement prevention policies and provide staff training.
  • Engage employees and safety representatives in risk management.
  • Regularly assess and update workplace policies.

The Prevention Plan must document:

  • Risk Identification – Specific workplace risks linked to harassment.
  • Preventative Measures – Strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Employee Consultation – Evidence of staff involvement in policy development.
  • Ongoing Review – A structured process for monitoring and updating the plan.

With deadlines fast approaching, businesses should act now to ensure compliance.
