An exciting opportunity exists for a Work Health and Safety (WHS) Manager to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of WHS policies, risk management strategies, and safety initiatives. This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety legislation while fostering a strong safety culture across the organisation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Policy Development & Compliance – Develop, review, and update WHS policies and procedures in line with legislative requirements. Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance.
  • Risk Management – Identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement mitigation strategies. Maintain and manage the organisation’s risk register.
  • Incident Management – Lead investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses. Prepare detailed reports and oversee the implementation of corrective actions to prevent future risks.
  • Training & Development – Design and deliver WHS training programs for employees and contractors. Provide guidance to managers and ensure competency in safe work practices.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Act as the primary point of contact for WHS-related matters, liaising with government bodies, industry associations, and internal stakeholders.
  • Emergency Preparedness – Develop and maintain emergency response plans, coordinate drills, and ensure emergency equipment is functional and accessible.
  • Performance Reporting – Analyse WHS data, report on trends, and provide insights to senior management to drive continuous safety improvements.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Diploma or higher qualification in Work Health and Safety or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of WHS legislation, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
  • Certification in incident investigation (e.g., ICAM) is desirable.
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
  • Proven experience conducting risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficiency in WHS management systems and reporting tools.
