Graduate & Early Career Engineers – Mechanical & Systems | Join the Heatlie Team
Are you an engineer with a few years of industry experience, looking to apply your skills in a hands-on, practical environment? Heatlie, one of South Australia’s most respected local manufacturers, is looking for motivated professionals to join our growing team.
We’re a proudly SA-owned and operated business based in North Plympton, with a team of 33 skilled and committed people. For over 40 years, we’ve been designing and manufacturing durable, functional barbecues and custom metal products, known for their quality and local craftsmanship. Our strong reputation is built on precision, problem-solving, and continuous improvement — and we’re excited to welcome new engineers who can help us take the next step.
We currently have three full-time opportunities available: one with a systems/IT focus, and two with a mechanical/practical engineering focus.
Systems & Process Engineer (IT Focus)
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys improving internal systems, troubleshooting technology issues, and supporting business operations. You’ll be instrumental in helping us set up and maintain Microsoft systems, document internal processes, and begin our journey toward ISO 9001 certification.
Working closely with factory managers and our engineering team, you’ll review and create SOPs, assist with technical problem-solving, and help drive smarter, more efficient workflows across the business.
We’re looking for someone with:
• A degree in Engineering, IT, or a related discipline
• 1–3 years of experience in a similar systems or process improvement role
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• An interest in quality management and internal systems development
Mechanical Engineers (Practical Focus)
These roles are ideal for engineers who enjoy getting involved in the hands-on, practical side of manufacturing. You’ll work directly with our production and design teams to improve products and processes, solve real-time problems on the factory floor, and support the delivery of high-quality metalwork.
You won’t be stuck behind a desk — you’ll be working where the action happens, using your engineering knowledge to identify opportunities for improvement and implement practical, functional solutions.
We’re looking for people with:
• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design
• 2–4 years of experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or production environment
• A practical, problem-solving mindset with a strong focus on functionality
• The ability to communicate and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
• Experience with CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD Inventor) is welcomed, but not the core focus of the role
What We’re Looking For
Across all roles, we value people who take initiative, enjoy working collaboratively, and have the confidence to bring ideas forward. You’ll be supported by a close-knit, experienced team and have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to projects from day one.
