About the Role

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both technical accounting and client advisory work.

You will manage a portfolio of business clients, review compliance work, mentor junior team members, and contribute to improving workflows and systems across the practice.

You’ll also become a trusted advisor to clients — helping them improve performance, understand their numbers, and make confident business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Client Advisory & Relationship Management

• Manage a portfolio of business clients

• Build strong, trusted client relationships

• Provide practical taxation and business advice

• Support business planning, forecasting and cashflow discussions

• Identify opportunities to improve client performance and structure

Accounting & Compliance

• Review financial statements, tax returns and BAS

• Ensure work is completed accurately and on time

• Maintain compliance with Australian taxation obligations

• Monitor workflow, deadlines and job progress

Team Leadership & Development

• Mentor and support junior accountants

• Provide technical guidance and feedback

• Contribute to a positive and accountable team culture

• Support capability development across the team

Practice Improvement & Growth

• Identify opportunities to improve systems and workflow

• Assist with technology optimisation and process improvements

• Contribute to client experience and advisory growth initiatives

What We’re Looking For

Essential

• Experience within a public practice accounting firm

• Strong knowledge of Australian tax and compliance

• Experience managing clients and workflow

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills

• Commercial mindset with strong attention to detail

• Ability to mentor and support team members

Highly Desirable

Experience with:

• Xero

• Xero Practice Manager (XPM)

• FYI Docs

• Now Infinity

• Ignition

CA or CPA qualified (or currently completing) will be highly regarded.
